Tips to enjoy Fiesta San Antonio without derailing your finances

Fiesta San Antonio, happening in 2025 between April 24 through May 4, began in 1891 as a flower parade to commemorate the heroes of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. It has since evolved into a vibrant, 10-day celebration showcasing the rich culture of San Antonio with delicious food, festive outfits, colorful parades and more.

With hundreds of events popping up around the city, it’s easy to overspend while enjoying the fun. Whether you’re a local San Antonian or a visitor experiencing Fiesta for the first time, it’s important to plan—not just for parking, but for your finances.

    Plan for Fiesta San Antonio

All 10 days of Fiesta are jam packed with free and ticketed events around the city. But, before you start planning your schedule, take a moment to determine how much you want to spend. You can organize your Fiesta finances (and your regular monthly spending) with our spending plan.

    What to consider

    • Event tickets: Parades, concerts and fundraisers that require an entry fee. You can find a full list of events here.
    • Food and drinks: Fiesta classics like chicken-on-a-stick, elote and micheladas are a must, but can add up quickly.
    • Merchandise and medals: Collecting Fiesta medals is a tradition, but it’s good to decide how many can fit into your spending before you start buying.
    • Fiesta attire: If you want to look the part without buying a whole outfit, street vendors often have flower crowns, jewelry and other fun accessories to spice up any outfit, but all you really need is colorful clothing, comfortable shoes and sunscreen.
    • Transporation and parking: Plan ahead to avoid expected travel disruptions related to traffic, street closures and parking. You can find street closures, temporary bus schedule changes and more here.

Once you have an estimate for how much you want to spend, consider opening a separate checking just for your Fiesta spending. It will be much easier to keep track of your spending and avoid splurging on impulse purchases.

Credit Human is giving $300 to members and non-members who open a new checking account. Learn more about this offer here.

    Carry the Necessities

Carrying a reusable water bottle can keep you hydrated and helps avoid buying expensive drinks, but keep in mind restrooms may be difficult to access. Additionally, it’s a good idea to keep your cash and debit/credit cards on your person instead of in a bag. It’s easy to set your things down and lose them while enjoying the fun. Most importantly, don’t skimp on the sunscreen!

    Consider Going Digital

With big crowds and lots of movement, it’s smart to keep your finances secure and accessible. Members can access the following features in digital banking:

    • Easily check your balance and transfer funds as needed.
    • Set up account alerts to track spending and stay within your financial plan.
    • Pay with contactless options for faster, safer transactions at vendors.

Fiesta is about fun, culture and community, but it’s important that we maintain our financial responsibility. By planning, tracking spending and using the right financial tools, you can enjoy every moment without financial hangover.

At Credit Human, we’re here to help you make the most of your money—during Fiesta and all year long. Want personalized financial guidance? Visit your nearest Financial Health Center to explore how our financial solutions can support your goals.
