Credit Human is a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values

Credit Human is still focused on eliminating the financial stress that too many of us are struggling to manage in our day-to-day lives. Which is why it was an easy decision to join forces with the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, or GABV, a network of independent financial institutions using finance to deliver sustainable economic, social and environmental development. Putting finance in the service of people and the planet—not shareholders—is part of their collective DNA.

Credit Human didn’t become part of GABV because we wanted to become a values-driven organization. We joined because we are a values-driven organization, and we believe we can add needed energy to an important movement that is reshaping the financial services industry for the better. By joining GABV, we’re adding more voices, and resources, toward fulfillment of our vision for communities free of financial stress.

We have a lot of work to do to fulfill this vision, but one way we are good stewards of financial resources and environmental resources is through the Credit Human SustainableHomeTM lending program. We provide loans through businesses where you purchase solar, geothermal, rainwater harvesting and home improvement projects so you can have access to lower interest financing and fewer fees.

Credit Human also shows our commitment to financial and environment stewardship by installing solar panels on our Financial Health Center locations and building one of the most sustainable mid-rise commercial buildings in the country for our headquarters in San Antonio. Energy and water-saving strategies combine to reduce the amount of potable water needed by more than 90%, and the amount of energy needed by approximately 96%.

Investments in sustainability saved Credit Human more than $2.2 million—money we continue to reinvest in future projects to reduce our environmental impact.

The investments we’ve made as an organization are simply the best performing in our portfolio,” said Credit Human President/CEO Steve Hennigan. “We want to help our members realize those same cost savings to reduce their financial stress and environmental impact in the communities we serve. We are driven by our mission to help people build and maintain financial slack, which will reduce financial stress for people regardless of income.”
