Credit Human Headquarters: Our Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability is more than just our corporate responsibility, it’s a promise that is deeply rooted in our mission and drives the decisions we make for our members and our future. Our headquarters stands as a testament to this commitment.
Developed with the environment in mind, our building at 1703 Broadway is designed to save water, reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions. Learning from these efforts, plus our membership in the Global Alliance of Banking on Values (GABV), allows us to continue making sustainable economic, social and environmental developments which help our members lower their costs while promoting sustainability.
Leading by Example: Our Building
Our headquarters is designed with cutting-edge sustainability features that demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship. Here are some of the key initiatives we've implemented:
- Geothermal System: We have one of the largest geothermal systems in the country, with over 150 wells that go 350 feet deep. This system not only powers our building but also a neighboring facility, making our campus highly energy efficient.
- Rainwater Harvesting: We capture about 80% of the total rainfall that hits our campus. This water is treated and stored in tanks, then used for flushing toilets, irrigation and our fountains. In fact, we are able to conserve so much water, that a building of the same size would typically use around 4.4 million gallons annually; we are able to reduce our amount to about 144,000 gallons per year. That’s equivalent to the water use of a family of four.
- Energy Efficiency: Our building is equipped with state-of-the-art HVAC systems, efficient lighting, and other energy-saving technologies. These upgrades not only reduce our greenhouse gas emissions but also create a comfortable environment for our staff and visitors
Continuous Improvement
We are always looking for ways to enhance our sustainability practices, not just at our headquarters, but at new locations as well. This includes upgrading lighting, installing solar panels and improving HVAC systems to reduce emissions and create comfortable, energy-efficient spaces. We also consider closing high-emission buildings and opening new, more sustainable locations.
Supporting Our Members
Our commitment to sustainability goes hand in hand with our mission to reduce financial stress for our members and communities. We provide products like SustainableHomeTM Financing to help our members make their homes more energy-efficient, which can lead to significant cost savings.
Aligning with GABV Principles
Joining the GABV was a no-brainer. By working with other like-minded financial institutions, we can expand and strengthen the practice of values-based banking, and work within a financial network that promotes social equity, responds to climate emergency and delivers lasting well-being for all.
At Credit Human, we understand that true sustainability is about balancing people, planet, and profit. Through our innovative practices and our partnership with the GABV, we are committed to creating a brighter, greener future for all.
